Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
1. Introduction
Malviya.org ("we", "our", "this website") is an independent, volunteer-run community website. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit malviya.org, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described below.
2. Information We Collect
We do not require registration or accounts, and we do not run our own servers that store visitor data. The information involved in using this site is limited to:
- Email messages: We can be contacted only by email, at bk@malviya.org. When you write to us, we receive only what you choose to include (such as your name, email address, and message). We use messages to respond to questions, investigate corrections and discuss proposed contributions. We do not sell email information. Material intended for an article is published only with permission; private contact details are not part of a public contribution by default.
- Usage data: Like most websites, third-party services we use (described below) automatically collect standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on the site.
3. Cookies
The research notebook keeps entries in page memory and does not upload or automatically save them between visits. It does not load advertising or analytics scripts. Its import function reads a file on your device; its export functions create a file for you to keep. Exported files contain the information you entered, so consider their contents before sharing them.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. This website uses cookies through the third-party services described below (Google Analytics and Google AdSense). We also use your browser's local storage to remember your language preference (English/Hindi); this stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from reading this website.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site is seeking Google AdSense approval and includes Google’s AdSense script on its content pages. Ads may be served if advertising is approved and enabled. Please note:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are read most). Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on site, approximate location (city level), device, and browser. Analytics reports help us understand usage patterns. Google processes technical data and identifiers according to its own policies; these reports should not be treated as a guarantee of anonymity. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Third-Party Links
This website contains links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
7. Children's Privacy
This website does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please email us at bk@malviya.org or use our contact page.
